Times : In 1173 the Holy Roman Emperor granted the archbishop of Lyon, first of the Gauls, sovereign rights. The archbisschop hold justice, mintright and right to raise an army. In 1245 the 13th oecumeniq is held in Lyon. King Louis the Pious is brought back from Tunis and buried in 1271 in the cathedral. 1274 sees Lyon hosting the 14th eucumenic council. In 1292 the archbishop lost its suppreme power when Lyon came under the protection of the king of France Philips IV
