Ik heb hier nog een klein barbaartje van 10mm dia en 0,7 gram.
Ik weet niet of er iemand iets in herkend

Wellicht naar een voorbeeldmunt van Julianus, keizer spiest gevallen ruiter ! Prachtig..

Maarre.. deze kan ook gereduceerd zijn en officieel. Het muntbeeld is veel groter dan het plaatje.

Hi adrianus,  maybe I did not use the proper English term, with "reduced" I meant an official coin that was struck on a (drastically) reduced flan, that is, out of material shortage. On the above coin, the die seems to have had 1.5 times the diameter of the flan..

No, I understood the term perfectly - it's the same as we use over this side of the 'Narrow Sea'!
Official coins do not get quite this small in the first place - the die is too large for the coin but the coin is still unofficial. There are stylistic differences as well (you would expect me to say that, wouldn't you )

What I can see at this point: shape of the left leg shown in little dots, thinner and detached limbs, use of a mid-thick cutter for uniform details, absent lettering..


a coin in the Ancient Info attic I'd call this a "naive style"

As far as we can say (quality!) Togirix' example of FEL-TEMP falls somewere in between.. the exergue is very large and primitive on that coin.

Ik meen bij de aanvangsmunt 'iets' om het hoofd te zien en daarom denk ik dat dit Constantius II betreft ipv Julianus II als caesar.

@Goodies in je laatste post plaats je ter vergelijking ook een centenionalis of Ae3 van Constantius II als de officiele versie. Betekend dat je bent afgestapt van je aanvankelijke determinatie als een Julianus II als caesar?
